Tales of the bush

AUSTRALIAN storyteller Nicole Alexander will visit the Stanthorpe Library next Tuesday, 3 September, for a talk with locals and to sign her books.

Stanthorpe librarian Chris Taylor said the library was excited to host Nicole’s visit and encouraged people to attend for a free morning tea hosted by the Southern Downs Regional Council from 10am.
“Nicole Alexander is the best-selling author of three number one Australian fiction novels; The Bark Cutters, A Changing Land and Absolution Creek.
The Bark Cutters remains the highest-selling debut novel in the rural literature genre and was shortlisted for an Australian Book Industry Award in 2011.
“Nicole is a fourth generation NSW grazier and working partner on a property that has been in her family for 120 years.
“Many locals would be familiar with Nicole’s stories and would be looking forward to reading her next book called Sunset Ridge which is an epic historical novel that takes three brothers from the drought-stricken outback of Queensland to the horror of the trenches in World War I.
“This is a story of bravery and misadventure, of intolerance and friendship, most of all it is the story of three young men who went to war and fought for love.
“This will be a wonderful opportunity for locals to talk with Nicole about her writing, her inspirations and especially her rural life experiences,” she said.
