THE My SDRC APP promotion wrapped up this week with Southern Downs resident Sarah Strand winning the third pool season pass.
Mayor Peter Blundell congratulated Mrs Strand on her winning entry to the MY SDRC APP promotion.
“It was my great pleasure to present Sarah and her son Rory, with a family season pass to WIRAC, their local public pool of choice, and to know that the whole family will benefit from this prize,” the mayor said.
In response, Mrs Strand said, “We were so pleased to win. It was actually my husband who found the APP and thought it was very useful, so he downloaded it and said, ‘quick fill this in so Rory can go to the pool and I can go with him’”.
“We’ve used the MY SDRC APP several times already to lodge requests. In fact, when we moved into our current home we noticed that the kerb was broken, so my husband took a photo and lodged a request on the APP and the council guys came out and fixed it.”
“A few of our friends had asked questions about it, too, so my husband helped them download the APP and put it on their phones for them,” Mrs Strand said.
The mayor added that he was delighted with the community response to the promotion.
“When we began the promotion in November last year, less than 500 people had signed up to the free MY SDRC APP.
“As a result of the promotion, more than 700 people have now downloaded the APP and accessing its many features and benefits, particularly the ability for residents to connect with council while ‘on the move’.
“As Mrs Strand has alluded to, the APP offers a range of features to users such as ‘Fix it’ to report an issue to council, access to the latest council news, ability to contact councillors at a touch and access to council’s contact information.
“The APP provides quick access to council’s social media and, importantly, particularly as we are now well and truly into the summer storm season, it has an Alerts page feature, which is a useful tool and can provide information in a disaster.
“The MY SDRC APP not only provides residents with a ‘one-stop shop’ access to basic council information, but can also keep people up-to-date on what is happening in our region.
“We’ve already received some great feedback from current users of the APP who appreciate the ease of reporting issues to council on the spot as well as having quick access to the information the APP provides.
So, if you haven’t yet downloaded the free MY SDRC APP, don’t delay, follow the Strand family’s example, and download it today,” the mayor said.
