GREG Gulliver was named Woodenbong Citizen of the Year at the town’s annual Australia Day ceremony at Woodenbong Public Hall last week.
Greg, a long-time resident and strong volunteer has been a volunteer firefighter for more than 20 years, holding positions including secretary, treasurer, deputy/senior captain, and currently captain of the Woodenbong Rural Fire Brigade. He is also involved with Woodenbong Tennis Club as vice and president and a member of Public Hall Trust for 10 years.
He was presented with his award by former Play School presenter Benita Collings, the Kyogle Shire’s Australia Day ambassador for 2016.
Young Citizen winner was Jacinta Grimmett, junior sportsperson going to Remy Leonard and the Woodenbong Community Organisation winner was Woodenbong Golf Club.
The presentation was followed by the now famous Woodenbong pork roast rolls and fancy treats provided by our hard working voluntary force of community and committee members.
The “City versus Country” Cricket match was the afternoon’s highlight.
