THE Flying Arts Alliance’s touring exhibition of the prestigious 2015 Queensland Regional Art Awards, Cream of the Crop, will land at the Warwick Art Gallery from 28 January to 7 March.
Curated by Jan Manton (commercial gallerist, Jan Manton Art), this impressive exhibition features the diverse artwork of 30 of the finest emerging and established artists living and working in regional and remote Queensland.
In 2015, artists were asked to reflect and respond to local issues in the Queensland region, as opposed to addressing a specific exhibition theme.
Karina Devine, Gallery Director of the Warwick Art Gallery, said she was thrilled that the exhibition was able to come to the Southern Downs region.
“This touring exhibition shows regional and remote artists in their best light,” she said.
“It provides a wonderful opportunity for them to show their work to a wider audience.
“It is also a great opportunity for our community to see the work of artists from other areas, who choose to live and work in regional Queensland.”
The Queensland Regional Art Awards is a hallmark event produced by Flying Arts Alliance, which for 45 years has been providing visual arts development services throughout Queensland.
Executive Officer of Flying Arts, Kerryanne Farrer, said she was excited that the touring exhibition was showing in Warwick.
“The awards encourage participation and recognise excellence,” she said.
“The annual Queensland tour is a great opportunity for artists outside the mainstream to reach out to a wider audience”.
The official launch of the exhibition will take place at 6.30pm tomorrow night at Warwick Art Gallery.
