Transport boost

The services are expected to be available from 8 December.

TRANSPORT in Tenterfield and Glen Innes will be bolstered by community-based organisation CareWest to help residents better cope.
The organisation has been appointed by Transport for New South Wales to provide community transport services to the aged, people with disabilities and those who experience a transport disadvantage.
The transition will commence in early December and will deliver affordable, safe and easy-to-access transport services for those who have difficulty accessing mainstream transport.
CareWest CEO Tim Curran has assured that there will be no disruption to Tenterfield and Glen Innes’ current services during the transition period.
“CareWest is working with current providers and existing organisations to ensure a smooth transition,” he said.
“We will be running a public forum in the coming months to discuss the local community’s transport needs. No changes will be made to services until the forum is conducted, and we have had the opportunity to speak and listen to our customers.
“Also, we are keen to speak with the volunteers who deliver these very valuable services at the moment about remaining with the new service and we encourage all the staff of the service to apply for positions with us.”
The organisation provides services to the people of regional NSW across the Central West, Orana Far West and Riverina Murray regions.
CareWest expects that its community transport services will be fully transitioned and established by 8 December.
