WITH the tourism awards season coming to an end, one business from the Southern Downs has taken out a top prize at the Queensland Tourism Awards.
Spicers Peak Lodge in Maryvale flew the flag for the region in taking out gold in the Luxury Accommodation category and becoming three time winners of the award.
Spicers Peak Lodge general manager Helen Kretschmann said it was a team effort.
“It was an honour to win, and a wonderful achievement,” she said.
“We are all about delivering an amazing product and making guests happy, so to win such a prestigious award especially when we have such incredible peers is an honour.”
Helen said guests to the retreat could expect the royal treatment.
“Spicers Peak Lodge in an all-inclusive experience, connecting guests with an authentic sense of place,” she said.
“Visitors can expect a warm welcome, award winning food and wine, stunning Queensland scenery, incredible experiences from walks, mountain biking, four-wheel driving and the blissful enjoyment of our private day spa retreat.”
The retreat was one of two winners representing Southern Queensland Country along with Toowoomba’s Carnival of Flowers which took home gold in the Major Festivals and Events category.
The awards, which cover Queensland’s 13 tourism regions, are judged on five key categories – tourism excellence, business planning, marketing, customer service and sustainability.
Gold winners from business categories in the 2015 Queensland Tourism Awards will gain automatic entry into the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards to be held in Melbourne on 5 April next year.
