Bikies ride through town

Police briefs

WARWICK police intercepted two members of the Rebels Motorcycle Club on drug driving charges last week.
Following the news a bikie meeting was being held in New South Wales over the weekend, local police had an increased presence on the Cunningham Highway. They intercepted two members on Friday at 12.13pm and 2.23pm who both returned positive drug tests.
Officer in Charge Senior Sergeant Jamie Deacon said local police have targeted highways over the past week.
“We had information that people associated with the Rebels motorcycle gang would be passing through Warwick,” he said.
“There’s been a focus targeting their movements due to a chapter meeting in New South Wales.”
There is believed to have been no other reported incidents from Rebels members.

Trucks crash head on
TWO extremely lucky people walked away from a head-on truck crash on the Cunningham Highway.
On Saturday night, about 11.10pm, two trucks were reported to have collided head on. The incident occurred 35 kilometres west of Warwick with no reported injuries. The accident shut down the highway temporarily and it was not completely re-opened for four hours.
Both trucks were towed and both drivers walked away from the accident. Investigations are continuing, but police credit evasive actions by the drivers for the lack of injuries.
Senior Sergeant Jamie Deacon said: “They were very lucky there were no injuries”.

Girl arrested
A 13-YEAR-OLD girl has been summonsed to appear in Warwick Children’s Court to face a public nuisance charge.
The incident is alleged to have occurred on Tuesday after police attended a complaint on Wood Street.
Eggs and stones were believed to have been thrown by the girl at a property on the street. She will appear in court at a later date.
