Ride high in the saddle

Don't hang up your hat, let Rope and Ride know what you need.

THE Warwick Rodeo is now just under two weeks away but finding the right rodeo gear is not always easy.
However Cliff and Rose McFarlane are hoping that is all going to change.
The couple, after years of working in piggerys and other jobs, decided it was time for a change of job and have opened the new Rope and Ride store in Fitzroy Street – just in time for the rodeo.
And while they have opened in time for the rodeo, they are still waiting on stock and working out what to carry.
Cliff said they realise the rodeo riders needed specialist gear and would love to hear from locals and visitors about what their needs are.
“We look forward to supplying what people need and we encourage people to come in and tell us what they want,” he said.
Cliff said there be a bit and spur maker coming up for the rodeo who will then supply the shop with stock so that locals can buy what they need at other times of the year.
He said he and his wife loved Western gear and quarter horses and wanted to opened a store to supply Western riding gear, clothing and saddlery equipment.
“I am getting a bit long in the tooth to be chasing pigs,” he said.
He said the store was “part of my retirement plan” and he hoped to be running it for the next decade or two.
The plan is to import clothing and equipment from the US as well as sourcing stock from Australia and locally, including hand-made leather gear.
