TELSTRA has announced another allocation of the National Broadband Network (NBN) will now be available to homes and businesses across Stanthorpe, Woodenbong, The Falls and Cottonvale.
Almost 500 additional residences will now have access to the network. This follows on the back of the original offering of NBN in Stanthorpe in June this year with more than 1600 premises around the area eligible to connect.
Telstra Country Wide area general manager for Southern Queensland May Boisen said the launch would open doors for locals and provides incentives for tourism.
“Tourism is a major economic pillar of the Stanthorpe community and the NBN’s fast internet is a major drawcard for region’s tourism industry as visitors are increasingly able to access reliable wi-fi connections,” she said.
“We are seeing real payoffs for local businesses who invest in this access for their guests and their own business operations.
“We strongly encourage residents and local businesses in parts of Stanthorpe to look into the benefits the NBN can provide.”
Broadband use in Australia has reached unprecedented levels with last year’s volume of traffic carried over Telstra’s fixed network increasing by more than 30 per cent.
Ms Boisen said local technicians and store staff – including those at the Warwick store – had been receiving special training to help residents transition to the NBN.
“We are aiming to make sure that for those who choose to sign up with Telstra the process is simple – one call to our dedicated customer service centre team and we will help take care of the rest,” she said.
