IT MAY not officially be summer yet, but temperatures have shot up over the long weekend.
Maximum temperatures have tipped into the 30s and are expected to stay that way over the next week.
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea has extended over the east coast of Australia. The mercury is expected to dip back into the 20s with average lows hovering around 10C.
It is expected to be cloudy over the coming days with chances of rain moving through the weekend.
Monday is currently the most likely with a 30 per cent chance of rain over the Southern Downs.
Moving forward in Queensland, the new high will move slowly eastwards across the Tasman Sea, maintaining a ridge over coastal Queensland and pushing showers across the far eastern districts.
Fine, dry and mostly sunny weather is expected for this part of the state.
Coolmunda Dam has dipped slightly to 57 per cent capacity with Leslie Dam picking up slightly to 22 per cent capacity.
