Stanthorpe police use taser, find knife

AT midnight on Sunday, a 47-year-old man was tasered in Stanthorpe after brandishing an iron bar at police.
Police were called to the caravan park after the man was reported to be creating a disturbance. Upon being approached by police, the man threatened them with the bar before going inside the van and locking the door.
Police were then able to obtain the key and open the van door when the man allegedly rushed at them in a threatening manner and was then tasered. He was transported to Warwick watchhouse and charged with obstructing police and serious assault of a police officer. Bail was refused.

Stanthorpe man charged
A 44-YEAR-OLD man will face Stanthorpe Court charged with traffic offences and possessing a knife in public.
The man was stopped on Sugarloaf Road around noon on Friday. He had been observed on CCTV in the Piazza where he had ridden and parked his motorcycle in the Piazza before riding off.
He was later located and stopped, where police allegedly found a large knife on him and he was charged.
