Pops to play the classics

Brisbane City Pops Orchestra.

THERE is going to be a whale of a concert at Robert Channon’s Stanthorpe winery on Sunday 16 August when the fantastically popular Brisbane City Pops Orchestra brings its “Sea and Sky” concert on tour to the Granite Belt.
The orchestra performs regularly to packed houses in Brisbane playing light popular music and this will be their first trip to the Granite Belt.
They will play an exciting program inspired by the beauty and splendour of wind and water including music from ’Pirates of the Caribbean’, ’Moon River’, Swan Lake and much more.
Robert Channon said the orchestra will be joined by guest soprano, Gabrielle Jack.
”How often do we get to hear a 40 to 50 piece orchestra playing in Stanthorpe?” he said.
“This is an afternoon not to be missed with wonderful music from films and shows and light classics. We are encouraging everyone to book their tickets as soon as possible, so as not to miss out. Children are welcome. It is a great excuse for spending a day or a weekend in Granite Belt Wine Country and enjoying the best of wine, food and music.”
The concert is at 2pm on Sunday, 16 August in the Swigmore Hall at Robert Channon Wines. Tickets (including a glass of wine in the interval) are $25 with concessions for pensioners and children.
A buffet lunch at $25 per head will be served in the cafe before the concert. For bookings call the winery on 07 4683 3260.
