Cop’s drink driving charges

A 37-YEAR-OLD female Senior Constable from Stanthorpe has been charged with drink driving while off duty.
The officer has not been stood down at the time of writing, but the matter is being handled by the Ethical Standards Command.
She will appear in Warwick’s Magistrates’ Court on 9 September.

Naked man assaulted
A 19-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with wilfully damaging property and drug offences after being found naked in a house in McGlew Street, Stanthorpe.
Stanthorpe police arrived at the dwelling just after midnight on Friday to find the man, who was believed to be under the influence of liquor or drugs, had destroyed property and had been assaulted by another person at the property. Police also found drug utensils used for smoking cannabis.
The man was charged and transported to the Stanthorpe Hospital for treatment for his injuries. Police are currently investigating the assault.

Random drug testing
A TRAFFIC operation was carried out on Friday night and Saturday in Warwick. The roadside drug testing unit netted five positive results over a 48-hour period.
Senior Sergeant Jamie Deacon said the results were discouraging.
“It’s a sign of the times, which is unfortunate that we are getting five positive drug tests,” he said.

Break and enter
A TAKEAWAY store has been broken into for the second time in three months.
R and K’s Fork and Takeaway was broken into sometime between 6pm on 27 July and 4.30am on 28 July.
Following an investigation, three men aged 18, 20 and 24 from Warwick were charged on Sunday with a number of offences including break and enter. They will face Warwick Magistrates’ Court on assorting dates.

Arrests made in Cowboys break-in
TWO boys have been charged for the break-in at the Cowboys clubhouse last month.
A 14 and 15-year-old fronted court yesterday, charged with break and enter and wilful damage. One boy was refused bail and will remain in custody and the other was released on bail. A third boy was also involved but was released with a caution.
The boys will return to court at a later date.
