OVER 80 artists showcased their work at a popular exhibition on Friday evening.
The bi-annual Southern Downs Regional Artist Exhibition 2015 attracted over 180 people who viewed 82 pieces of work from various mediums.
Warwick Art Gallery Director Karina Devine said the event started in 2009 and the quality of work kept getting better.
“We have some artists who are familiar and some who are new, and there is so much variety and a lot of talent,” she said.
“We want to exhibit everyone’s work, so are lucky to have enough entrants to fill the space but not overcrowd it.”
Ms Devine said she was very pleased with the evening.
“We had some lovely catering from gallery volunteers and there were local wines for sale on the night,” she said.
“Everyone had a really good night and a lot of fun socialising.”
Judge Nina Shadforth, director of the Noosa Regional Gallery and Butter Factory Arts awarded five winners in four categories, and 16 highly commended.
The winner of the Warwick Credit Union Painting Award went to Roger Parkinson ‘Emu Creek at Dusk’. Winners of the Helen Harm Real Estate and Drawing Award went to Lacey Rasmussen for Looking Deeper and Susan Shaw for Pomegranates. Winner of the Rose City Shoppingworld Contemporary Textiles Award went to Faye Roselt for ‘A String Quartet’ and the winner of the Warwick Art Gallery Sculpture Award went to Pat Benkendorff for ‘The Time Traveller.”
People can still cast their votes for the People’s Choice Award until Sunday, 3 May and the winner will be announced on Facebook.
