THE heavenly aroma of roses filled the air at St Mark’s parish hall on Friday as Warwick’s brightest green thumbs displayed their beautiful blooms.
More than 100 entries were received at this year’s Annual Rose Festival, with Barbara Porter crowned Champion Rose and Narelle Goodwin Reserve Champion Rose.
St Mark’s Women’s Guild secretary Sue Nalder said she was “thrilled” with the standard of roses despite challenging weather conditions in the lead-up to the event.
The number of younger gardens taking part was also encouraging.
“Although we always appreciate people who have exhibited for some years now, it was great to see some new names among the winners,” Ms Nalder said.
Southern Downs Regionl Council mayor Peter Blundell was on hand to present the trophies.
