THE Warwick Animal Welfare Association held its monthly fund-raising barbecue at Rose City markets last weekend.
It was a successful day, with one cat, two pups and a bigger dog adopted, dog liaison officer Ann Simon said.
The organisation exists entirely off donations and the help of volunteer foster families who care for the pets until they are re-homed.
Ms Simon said while there were many advantages to adopting a pet, the most fundamental was giving the cute companions a second chance at life.
“A lot of time they are older and already trained,” she added.
The Animal Welfare Association currently has about 12 dogs, seven cats and one kitten in their care after rescuing animals from local pounds.
Anyone interested in purchasing a rescue animal or volunteering can contact Ms Simon on 0447 801 909.
They also have a Facebook page which lists up-to-date information and pictures of pets needing loving homes.
