ABOUT 70 people came out to the Warwick Art Group studio on Saturday to witness the official opening of Ann Fogarty’s first solo exhibition.
It has been a year of growth for the mostly self-taught Clifton artist, who divides her time between Warwick and Toowoomba art groups, having flourished since she was first given a nudge to display one of her works at Art@St Mark’s during Jumpers and Jazz last year.
Some 50 pieces are included in the exhibition at Willi Street, consisting of mainly colourful acrylic abstracts.
President of the Demented Artists Group (DAGs) Corina Graham said the opening was a roaring success.
“An amazing amount of people came to the opening and she sold half of her pieces on the day,” Corina said.
The prolific artist is secretary of DAGs, which was initially established by people with mental health issues who also had an interest in art for well-being.
Ann said she had always been involved in creative projects and was pleased her latest ventue was taking off.
“It just makes me feel really good and I love being creative,” she said.
The exhibition is open on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 12pm, or by appointment 0402 460 919 until 12 September.
