Yowies invade Woodenbong

Local Genus of Woodenbong Yowie, Kyogle mayor Danielle Mulholland and Jim Grasby.

By JOYCE MARSH (WOODENBONG CORRESPONDENT)

KYOGLE Shire mayor Danielle Mulholland was attacked by a Yowie at the sixth-birthday Woodenbong Yowie Country Market at the weekend.
Bystander Jim Grasby of WAG tried to pull her free. Danielle is reported to have escaped unscathed and will be able to resume her duties at the council.
Fun was the flavour of the day. Great workshops and demonstrations, in funny hats face-painted children were seen everywhere, banners flew and stalls dressed to suit the birthday theme, and a good variety of stalls there were. A beautiful day and the sun kept the mood happy and the live music brightened up everyone’s spirits.
Eleven happy winners of the stall cash vouchers and gifts that were up for grabs and the raffle winner of the ‘Dinner for two’ at the Woodenbong Hotel was M. Martin and the winner of Max Melville’s timber box was G. George.
The Woodenbong Yowie Country Market Community Committee would like to thank Kyogle Shire, all visitors and the stallholders who have supported the market events over this period and hope to see you return soon.
A special thanks to the mayor for being a great sport and giving support to our local event.
