RIDERS came out in force for the annual Killarney and Border Districts Trail Ride at the weekend.
More than 1500 competitors took part in this year’s event including 1303 in the open class, 210 in the Novice and 37 Peewees.
The event is one of the premier events on the trail ride calendar.
Hosted by the Killarney P-10 State School Parents and Citizens Association, the event is the school’s major fund-raiser and receives the support of a number of community groups.
These include Warwick SES, Killarney First Responders, Legume Rural Fire Service, Killarney Rural Fire Service, Killarney Recreation Club, Killarney Show and Rodeo Society and Tannymorel Hall Committee. Members of these groups all volunteer their time and services to help the event run smoothly.
The ride itself wound through the scenic, high country from Killarney to the New South Wales/Queensland border and back.
Organisers thanked the landholders involved for their support and cooperation which helped make the ride a success.
Organisers will finalise the figures on proceeds this year after restoring the track which requires “extensive clean up” in some places.
