By ALENA HIGGINS

COUNCIL is expected to declare its water fluoridation survey invalid, meaning the health practice will continue, after less than 50 per cent of surveys were returned.
Of the 6588 surveys sent to Warwick, Yangan and Allora water ratepayers, only 1662 (25.2 per cent) were returned (587 wanting fluoridation continued and 1071 wanting it discontinued).
In Stanthorpe, 2351 surveys were sent out, but only 742 (31.6 per cent) were returned (221 for and 520 against).
Councillors will discuss the findings of the survey on Wednesday at its general meeting in Stanthorpe.
On 25 June, 2014 it agreed to stop fluoridation is more than “50 per cent of returns from either of the Warwick or Stanthorpe Water Treatment Plant water connection ratepayers wish for fluoridation to be removed from that Water Treatment Plant”.
