Thin blue line praised

Tenterfield's Constable Todd Cremer receives his Leichhardt LAC Certificate of Merit from New England LAC Commander, Superintendent Fred Trench.

FOUR Tenterfield police officers were recognised for their exceptional service at a special awards presentation ceremony in Armidale last week.
Senior Constable Ian O’Rourke, Constable Todd Cremer, Senior Constable Ian Ramma and Senior Constable Michael Eaton were among 26 serving police officers and staff from the New England Local Area Command to be awarded national and NSW police medals and bravery commendations.
Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall said the region was “extremely well served” by its local police who put their lives on the line each day to keep the community safe.
The MP paid special tribute to Senior Constable Ramma who, after 43 years of active service in the police, was still working in Highway Patrol.
“Ian is an incredible example for his fellow officers, both in terms of the length of his service but also his attitude and conduct on the job,” Mr Marshall said.
“I was delighted to see Ian receive his sixth clasp to the NSW Police Medal at the ceremony, something rarely seen in any service.”
Mr Marshall said recent crime statistics in the region were stable or dropping in the 17 crime categories.
