New find at drug site

A BURIED container with suspected links to drug trafficking and a decades-old triple murder case has been found on a property near Warwick.
Police probed the property at Willowvale Road, Massie on Saturday and used an excavator to find the container, which had a hidden latch.
State Drug and Serious Crime Illicit Laboratories Investigation Team (ILIT) members then used breathing apparatus to examine the container for further evidence of drug trafficking.
It is believed the container had been buried on the property for a number of years.
It follows a bust at the same property last week, where police allegly uncovered evidence of a large-scale drug operation.
Detective Inspector Mick Dowie said that further information from the public resulted in the find.
“As a result of fresh information received from the public we have returned to the property to inspect a suspicious site and located a buried shipping container,” he said.
“For the safety of investigators we have called upon the assistance of ILIT members to process the contents of the container. We are still assessing the contents.”
Investigations are ongoing.
